The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) recently announced that the newly installed photovoltaic capacity in Germany reached 1.013GW in November 2024, becoming the second lowest monthly new increase this year, only higher than the 972MW in August.
The installed capacity data for November includes 548.8MW EEG supported rooftop photovoltaic projects and 348.6MW EEG ground photovoltaic bidding projects. Although the data may be adjusted in subsequent updates, the current statistics are still far lower than the 1.42GW in November 2023 and 1.596GW in October 2024. In addition, Germany added 458.8MW of onshore wind power installed capacity and 4.5MW of biomass energy installed capacity in November.

From January to November this year, the total newly installed photovoltaic capacity in Germany has reached 14.53GW, with a cumulative total installed capacity of 97.55GW. Although the data for December has not been released yet, the European Photovoltaic Association SolarPower Europe's "EU Market Outlook for SolarPower 2024-2028" report predicts that Germany will continue to lead the EU market with a total of 16.1GW of new capacity added throughout the year.
Germany's domestic support for photovoltaics continues to increase. According to a recent survey by the German Solar Industry Association (BSWSolar), voters from various political parties strongly support the development of renewable energy, particularly in promoting further expansion of photovoltaic and energy storage projects.
Currently, the German government will hold elections on February 23, 2025. The industry expects that Germany's policies in the field of renewable energy will have a clearer direction after the election.
