Pneumatic stainless steel ball valves are widely used in industrial automation control systems such as petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, and power industries due to their compact structure, rapid opening and closing, and good sealing performance. However, during long-term operation or improper operation, valves may also experience various malfunctions, affecting system stability and safety. This article will classify and analyze common faults of pneumatic stainless steel ball valves, helping users improve troubleshooting efficiency and equipment maintenance level.

1、 Valve leakage
1. Damage to valve seat sealing surface: Solid particles, impurities, etc. in the medium can cause erosion and wear on the valve seat sealing surface during valve opening and closing, resulting in uneven sealing surface and leakage.
2. Surface damage of sphere: During installation or use, the sphere is subjected to external forces such as collision and compression, resulting in defects such as pits and scratches on the surface of the sphere, which damages the sealing performance between the sphere and the valve seat.
3. Valve seat deformation: due to excessive temperature change, high medium Pressure or long-term use, the valve seat may be deformed, resulting in the failure of the valve seat to closely fit the ball, resulting in leakage.
2、 Slow or stuck valve action
1. Air source problem: insufficient air source Pressure will cause insufficient driving force of the pneumatic actuator, resulting in slow valve action. In addition, the gas source contains impurities such as moisture and oil, which can block pneumatic pipelines or internal channels of actuators, affecting gas circulation and causing valve jamming.
2. Malfunction of the actuator: Wear and aging of the piston seal of the pneumatic actuator can cause the piston to leak air, resulting in a decrease in the output force of the actuator and abnormal valve action. In addition, wear and lack of oil in transmission components such as gears and racks of the actuator can also cause valve action to be inflexible.
3. Internal issues of the valve: Impurities, rust, and other debris accumulate between the ball and valve seat or in the rotating parts of the valve, which can hinder the rotation of the ball and cause the valve to jam.
3、 The valve cannot operate
1. Solenoid valve failure: Open circuit, short circuit or burnout of the solenoid valve coil can cause the solenoid valve to malfunction, unable to control the opening and closing of the air circuit, resulting in the valve being unable to operate. In addition, issues such as stuck valve cores and poor sealing of solenoid valves can also affect their normal function.
2. Control circuit problem: Open circuit, short circuit or poor contact in the signal circuit of the pneumatic ball valve can prevent the control signal from being transmitted to the solenoid valve or pneumatic actuator normally, resulting in the valve not being able to operate as required.
3. Damage to the actuator: Severe damage such as cylinder rupture or piston jamming in pneumatic actuators can cause the actuator to lose its driving ability and result in the valve being unable to open and close.
4、 Limit switch malfunction
1. Position deviation: During the frequent opening and closing process of the valve, vibration may cause the installation position of the limit switch to deviate, making it impossible for the limit switch to operate at the correct opening and closing position of the valve, and thus unable to accurately feedback the valve status.
2. Contact damage: After long-term use, the contacts of limit switches may experience wear, oxidation, erosion, and other phenomena, resulting in poor contact or inability to conduct, which prevents the control system from receiving the correct valve position signal.
The operational stability of pneumatic stainless steel ball valves is related to the efficiency and safety of the entire automation system. To effectively prevent malfunctions, it is recommended that users develop a comprehensive inspection plan, promptly remove impurities, inspect seals, test the quality of electronic control systems and gas sources, and perform periodic maintenance on actuators and control components. By "early detection and early processing", not only can the service life of valves be extended, but operation and maintenance costs can also be reduced, ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of the system.
