Recently, on the vast land at the southern edge of the Taklamakan Desert, the first section of the 800000 kilowatt photovoltaic sand control project of CGN Hotan Celle, constructed by Xinjiang Electric Power Construction, has successfully achieved full capacity grid connected power generation, officially opening a new chapter in clean power transmission, desert ecological governance, and local development empowerment.

As the second large-scale photovoltaic desertification control project to be connected to the grid in Hotan region, this "Desert Energy Oasis" with a total investment of about 2.098 billion yuan and an area of about 20600 acres has achieved a "two-way rush" of ecological governance and clean energy development in the desert and Gobi with an innovative model of "photovoltaic+desertification control". The project is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Cele County, with a total installed capacity of 800000 kilowatts. It is a key new energy project in the autonomous region that integrates clean energy power generation, desertification control, and ecological restoration. The construction content includes the leveling of the photovoltaic field area, the layout of 63 photovoltaic arrays, the installation of 378672 photovoltaic modules, the construction of support foundations, the laying of 35 kV collection lines, the construction of supporting boosting stations, and electrical debugging, among other complete processes.
During the construction process, this project is not only an important measure for Cele County to promote the transformation of energy structure and assist rural revitalization, but also effectively promotes the increase of local income and drives the development of related industrial chains. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to provide approximately 1.53 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually, which will effectively optimize the energy supply structure of the southern Xinjiang region and provide stable and reliable green support for the high-quality development of the local economy and society.

In terms of ecological benefits, the project innovatively combines large-scale photovoltaic power generation with desertification control. Photovoltaic panel arrays can effectively reduce surface wind speed and decrease soil moisture evaporation, creating favorable conditions for planting drought resistant vegetation under and between panels and gradually restoring the ecological environment of sandy land. According to calculations, the project can save about 460000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.25 million tons annually, providing a replicable and promotable practical path for ecological protection and restoration in arid and semi-arid areas.
The smooth grid connection of CGN and Tianchele Photovoltaic Sand Control Project is not only an important achievement in accelerating the construction of a national large-scale clean energy base in Xinjiang, but also a vivid practice of Xinjiang Electric Power Construction in practicing the concept of green development and deepening the field of new energy. It is also an important milestone in promoting energy transformation, controlling desert ecology, and achieving green and high-quality development in southern Xinjiang. In the future, Xinjiang Electric Power Construction will continue to adhere to its original intention and bravely shoulder its mission, injecting a continuous stream of green momentum into the optimization of Xinjiang's energy structure, improvement of ecological environment, and economic and social development with more high-quality new energy projects.
